ARE MORMONS CHRISTIAN?

YES, YES, YES.  The name of our church is:  THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS.  The Book of Mormon also has in it's title:  ANOTHER TESTAMENT OF JESUS CHRIST.  That should say it all.

Our nickname of Mormons, through people off.  Mormon is the prophet who compiled all the records of the prophets written from 600 BC to 400 AD into one set of Gold Plates. Because of what he did, the book was named after him and because we follow this book, along with the Bible, we are called Mormons.  It is a 2nd Witness and companion book to the Bible.  It does NOT take the place of the Bible.  We do not worship prophets, we honor them.

Faithful church members love Jesus Christ.  He is the divine Son of God.  He is the First Born of God the Father in the Spirit and the Only Begotten of God the Father in the Flesh.

We follow His teachings and rely on His saving grace, AFTER ALL WE CAN DO.  This means that we have to do all we can do to keep the commandments, in other words, by OUR WORKS.  We are not saved by grace alone.  NO ONE IS.  We must prove ourselves to Him by our works, and IF, after all is done and we have done our best, His Grace will take over.

The Lord Jesus Christ testified to us that His church would be named after Him:

In the Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 27: 7-9

7 Therefore, whatsoever ye shall do, ye shall do it in my name; therefore ye shall call the church in my name; and ye shall call upon the Father in my name that he will bless the church for my sake.

8 And how be it my church save it be called in my name? For if a church be called in Moses’ name then it be Moses’ church; or if it be called in the name of a man then it be the church of a man; but if it be called in my name then it is my church, if it so be that they are built upon my gospel.

9 Verily I say unto you, that ye are built upon my gospel; therefore ye shall call whatsoever things ye do call, in my name; therefore if ye call upon the Father, for the church, if it be in my name the Father will hear you;

Some have said we do not worship the same Jesus Christ.  THERE IS ONLY ONE JESUS CHRIST.

Our Book of Mormon tells us in 2 Nephi 25: 26

26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Our founding Prophet Joseph Smith said:

"The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again on the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it."
